Ultra-Portable Range From Iridium

A new range of ultra-light, thin portables is now available from Iridium. The manufacturers say the Starbook 620 series has been designed with a focus on the four most important areas for mobile users – performance, battery life, portability and connectivity. The range features a Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor-M up to 2.2GHz and supports 1GB DDR DRAM. It also has a 14-inch XGA TFT display, a CD-RW/DVD combo drive and up to 60MB of hard disk space running at 5400rpm.

Connectivity options include a V.90 integrated modem, 10/100Base T Ethernet, 3 USB ports and an IEEE 1394 Firewire digital interface. The hot-swappable combo drive bay can be replaced with an additional battery, prolonging battery life for up to six hours. Despite all these features, the Starbook 620 weighs less than 2.4kg and has a form factor of just 25mm.
