Iridium
Starbook 865
Indie Magazine (September '03)
Top-level
laptop specifications, as with their desktop cousins, don’t
stand still for very long – not so long ago a laptop such
as this would have seemed like pure fantasy. Weighing in with
a hefty 3.06GHz processor, this latest Iridium offering is one
of the most powerful notebooks we’ve ever seen at Indie.
Driven
by a Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor backed up by 512Mb of DDR
RAM base memory (1GB upgrade) and 512k level 2 cache, the Starbook
865 can handle pretty much anything you’d care to throw
at it. The 60GB hard drive capacity isn’t bad for a laptop,
and both a floppy drive and DVD/CDRW combo drive come as standard.
Graphics are powered by a 64MB ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 and shown
on a 15” screen, and the whole thing comes Bluetooth enabled
out of the box. In terms of portability it’s not the lightest
laptop on the market by a fair way, but for sheer power, this
one is pretty hard to beat.
