The first Centrino
wireless LAN notebook
The 750 is the first
notebook to make use of Intel’s new Centrino mobile technology,
which is geared toward longer battery life (through reduced power
consumption) and wireless connectivity. There has been some criticism
of Centrino’s claims to extended battery life, as in practice
the difference isn’t as great as many had perhaps hoped
(4.5 hours isn’t bad, though), but the push toward wireless
connectivity is a great thing indeed.
From the consumer’s
point of view, the ability to access their home network and broadband
Internet from the comfort of their sofa or garden, is surprisingly
liberating, and this stylish 1.6GHz machine is more than fast
enough to handle pretty much any application thrown at it. Internet
access at wireless LAN hotspots is set to become more accessible
as more hotspots are created, so demand for this product will
only increase over time.
